So, on March 17th, DYNT will turn 6! Six isn't a milestone year, but it feels like a bigger deal than 5 was last year. Why, who knows? Personally, maybe it's the same reason 41 was a bigger deal than 40 was for me... we have now surpassed that pivotal year, or at least the year that society tells us is such a big deal, which makes it just that much more "real".
Whatever the reason, I thought a celebration was in order! So on Friday, March 18th, Darn Yarn will be hosting an Open House from 5 pm - 8 pm. I’m never really sure why these things are called “open house”, or what specifically that means, but for DYNT, I’m interpreting it to mean “throw a party and invite everyone, no actual invites required! So come out and simply spend your Friday night with other fiber fiends. Invite your non-fiber-y friends to join you, share your love of squishy yarns, color options, and creative possibilities. Bring your project, spindle, or table loom and showcase what it is you like to do!
There will be cake pops from Tin Man Sweets in Evans City, coffee (decaf) from Wunderbar, tea, and lemonade. Make a purchase over $10to be entered into a drawing for a gift bag (As pictured left, chances based on number of entries, only one winner. Winner will be notified and announced on Tuesday, March 22nd). Everything will be 6% off - I know it’s not much, but it’s fun and goofy, because really, what do you do for 6 years? ( Sale excludes current sale or clearance items, not valid with any coupons) There will be demonstrations, and possible opportunities for you to try something new.
The Open House will start at 5 pm and run until around 8 pm. Feel free to stop in anytime during the event and say hello! Because after all, without you, DYNT wouldn’t be able to celebrate it’s 6th birthday.
Also, as part of our anniversary / birthday celebration, on Saturday the 19th there will be a spin-in all day! The usual date for the monthly spin-in would be Easter this month. So I thought it fitting to move the spin-in up a week, and switch the day (confusing, I know, but major holidays tend to alter regular schedules from time to time), to include the spin-in as part of the anniversary celebration. So if you can’t make it on Friday night, and you’re a spinner, bring your wheel or spindles on Saturday, and spin with others! Hopefully, it’ll be sunny and warm, and we can spin on the porch! And if there are any left-over cake pops, you’re welcome to them too.
