Classes, Workshops, & Groups

@ Darn Yarn

All Groups and Classes at Darn Yarn

are cancelled until May.

Below is our calendar of classes, groups, and workshops.  Please note, groups are free, workshops often have a fee/registration requirement. Please read the class description fully and carefully.

We ask that you register 24 hours prior to the class so the instructor has time to prepare (by 4 pm Saturday for a Tuesday class or workshop).  CALL OR VISIT THE SHOP TO REGISTER.

We also include shop closures and Harmony wide events so that you can plan your visit accordingly.

To navigate the calendar:

Click on the event, the box that comes up will have a scroll bar on the right, use that to scroll through the text and listing information.

Regularly Scheduled Groups at Darn Yarn

Groups are a great way to gather with like minded stitchers, spinners, weavers, and general fiber fans.  All levels of ability are welcome to attend any of the groups at Darn Yarn, however, please understand that these are not classes, if you are interested in learning a specific skill, please check the calendar, or inquire about private lessons.

Twice a week we hold "open groups".  Some know these type of groups as "Knitting Bees", "Knitting groups" "Knit and Natter", "Stitch and Bitch", or "Crochet Groups".  Whatever you call it, it's simply a time set aside for all of us to come together and get some stitching done.  Crocheters, Knitters, Spinners, Weavers, and any fiber artist in between is welcome to attend those two groups.  (Honestly, a knitter could attend the Spin-In and vice versa, it's just that we set aside a few hours each month specifically for Spinning.)  These groups are open to all -regardless of craft, skill level or age.  We're a friendly bunch and hope you'll join us.  Reservations or registration is not required.  Simply stop in.  Some weeks we've got a full house.  Other weeks there may only be a few attendees.  Regardless it's always a good and productive time.

Feel free to bring snacks, lunch or dinner, and drinks.  Darn Yarn has water, tea, and some instant beverages available; sometimes we may provide munchies too.

We are also open during these groups - so should you have a yarn emergency during a "Secret Sunday" we are open to assist you.

Tuesday Morning Stitch-N-Bitch

Every Tues. 10 am - 12 pm,

Started in October, 2016, this group meets weekly, on Tuesday mornings from 10 am - 12 noon.  All levels, including beginners,  and all methods of stitchers are welcome to attend, spinners and weavers too.  You need not attend every week, and you need not arrive at 10 am sharp.  Feel free to drop in as your schedule allows.

Thursday Night Stitch-N-Bitch

Every Thurs. 5 pm - 7 pm

Started in October, 2016, this group meets weekly, on THURSDAY NIGHT from 5 pm - 7 pm (or later).  It's an open group for all levels, including beginners.  Crocheters, knitters, spinners, weavers, and any thing in between are all welcome to attend.  We might watch a TV show, we might work outside if the weather's nice.  But we will certainly have a good time and get some work done on our projects!

Newbie Night

First TUESDAY of the month, 5 pm - 7 pm

Once a month we set aside a time for those who are new to stitching. If you're not sure you're doing something correctly, have questions about a project, are unsure about your craft, or just need guidance, this is a group for you. Bring your questions, projects, and a positive attitude.

This is not a "Learn to Class", but a place for those who are beginner stitchers to practice and gain confidence. Please check the schedule for classes if you're looking to learn how to knit or crochet.

We'll meet on the FIRST TUESDAY of the month.

Secret Sunday Spin-In & Cricket Club

4th Sunday of month 1 pm - 5 pm

This monthly group is just for SPINNERS & WEAVERS!  We usually meet on the 4th Sunday of the month (holidays may alter the date) from 1 pm - 5 pm.  Check the calendar for dates, if you're unsure.

Bring your wheel, spindles, or portable weaving loom and work on your projects with others.

This is a great way to meet other spinners and weavers, learn something new from observing others, and share your spinning and/or weaving knowledge.  All levels and manner of spinners and weavers are welcome to attend, however, this is not a class.  Please check the class listings if you are looking to learn how to spin or weave.

(There really isn't anything secret about it, DYNT just isn't usually open on Sundays.)
